En novembre 2021, des hommes et femmes de l’agglomération toulonnaise se sont engagés dans la création d’une pièce de théâtre de l’écriture à la scène autour du thème : avenirs et actes de résistance d’après une idée originale de Geneviève Flaven et en partenariat avec la scène nationale Châteauvallon-Liberté. Petites joies et grosses colères, rêveries intimes et détestations partagées, ils ont produit ensemble un récit joyeux et rebelle, à l’image de leurs esprits : indociles ! crée sur la scène du Liberté le 18 février 2022.
In November 2021, men and women from the Toulon area engaged in the creation of a play from storytelling to staging around the theme: futures and acts of resistance based on an original idea by Geneviève Flaven and in partnership with the national stage Châteauvallon-Liberté. Small joys and big angers, intimate daydreams and shared hatreds, they produced together a joyful and rebellious story, reflecting their minds: indocile ! show for the first time on February 18, 2022 on the stage of the Liberté theater.

Intention
Un “make it together” joyeux
Changement climatique, crise sanitaire, détresse économique et mécontentement social, jamais l’avenir ne nous a semblé si incertain, si inquiétant même. Incontrôlable, il semble nous échapper et nous laisse un douloureux sentiment d’impuissance : nous n’avons pas su l’imaginer, l’anticiper et encore moins le préparer. Au « no future » ambiant, nous avons voulu répondre par un « make it together » joyeux et salutaire autour du thème : avenirs et actes de résistance et ainsi opposer au désarroi une forme de résistance poétique, celle du théâtre, celle du chœur antique et populaire. Nous avons souhaité ouvrir un espace d’expression où chacun et chacune a pu partager récits personnels, revendications intimes et universelles, cris de révolte et projections imaginaires pour composer une narration collective porteuse de sens et de futurs désirables.
Intent
A joyful “make it together”
Climate change, health crisis, economic distress and social discontent, never has the future seemed so uncertain, so worrying even. Uncontrollable, it seems to escape us and leaves us with a painful feeling of helplessness: we have not been able to imagine it, anticipate it and even less prepare for it. To the ambient “no future”, we wanted to respond with a joyful and salutary “make it together” around the theme: futures and acts of resistance and thus oppose the disarray with a form of poetic resistance, that of the theater, that of the popular ancient choir. We wanted to open a space of expression where everyone could share personal stories, intimate and universal demands, cries of revolt and imaginary projections to compose a collective narrative that conveys meaning and desirable futures.

Ecriture
Près de 60 personnes ont répondu présentes aux ateliers d’écriture qui se sont tenus à Toulon en novembre et décembre, encadrés par Geneviève Flaven et Jacques Serena. Ils ont proposé au groupe des pistes créatives autour des thèmes de la révolte, des actes de résistance, des rêves d’avenirs et des utopies, inspirées par des sources littéraires variées : un slam de Kae Tempest et une lettre d’Antonin Arthaud, une pièce de Valère Novarina ou une chanson Lou Reed et d’autres encore.
Composition dramatrugique
Après ateliers d’écriture, les textes ont été sélectionnés et édités pour composer la pièce Indociles ! au cours d’une résidence de 3 jours au Liberté animée par Geneviève Flaven avec la participation de Jacques Serena, Stéphanie Slimani, Alexandre Dufour et Hélène Charles.

Théâtre
Puis des ateliers de pratique théâtrale ont démarré en janvier, avec trois groupes encadrés par les artistes intervenants : Stéphanie Slimani, Alexandre Dufour et Hélène Charles. Une semaine de répétition a eu lieu au Liberté du 14 au 18 février, avec 75 participants et participantes pour finir en beauté avec une représentation le 18 février à 19h30 dans la salle Camus.

Approach
Writing
Around 60 people attended the writing workshops held in Toulon in November and December, supervised by Geneviève Flaven and Jacques Serena. They offered the group creative avenues around the themes of revolt, acts of resistance, dreams of the future and utopias, inspired by various literary sources: a slam by Kae Tempest or a letter by Antonin Arthaud, a play by Valère Novarina or a Lou Reed song and more.
Dramaturgical composition
Following the writing workshops, the texts were selected and edited to compose the play Indociles! during a 3-day residency at Liberté led by Geneviève Flaven with the participation of Jacques Serena, Stéphanie Slimani, Alexandre Dufour and Hélène Charles.
Staging
Then theatrical practice workshops started in January, with three groups supervised by the participating artists: Stéphanie Slimani, Alexandre Dufour and Hélène Charles. A week of rehearsals took place at the Liberté from February 14 to 18, with around 75 participants to end in style with a performance on February 18 at 7:30 p.m in salle Camus

Grogner contre la voisine qui parle fort et déplorer la disparition des machines à écrire, redouter la pollution atmosphérique et réclamer la gratuité des croquettes pour chat, râler contre l’obsolescence programmée et revoir les ciels du Mexique, dire ce qu’on ne supporte plus, ce qui nous fait peur, ce qu’on rêve d’atteindre, ce qu’on voudrait revivre, la pièce Indociles ! fait entendre la clameur poétique et révolutionnaire d’un collectif toulonnais débridé.

Growling at the loud-talking neighbor and lamenting the disappearance of typewriters, fearing air pollution and demanding free cat food, complaining about planned obsolescence and seeing the skies of Mexico again, saying what we can no longer bear, what scares us, what we dream of achieving, what we would like to live again, the play Indociles! brings out the poetic and revolutionary clamor of an unchained Toulon collective.
